Rules
I tried to make these games as fair as possible, but am aware of the fact that some people will try to disturb others, spoil the fun, or cheat. So some of these mechanisms try to prevent such activities.
Abandoning
The most obvious way to "cheat" would be to simply leave a game when it looks like the other player(s) is/are winning. Here are some points to keep in mind about abandoning games:
- If there is a difference in who starts a game on a certain seat and who ends it, then the game will count as "abandoned" for the player who started it.
- As long as a player comes back from leaving, takes his seat back, and finishes the game, it will be considered fair gameplay.
- Should a seat become empty during the game, then ALL other players will see a "Force Play" button whenever that empty seat's turn comes around. Depending on which game is being played, different things may happen on a forced play -- for instance, trick games will play a random, valid card for the player. Please see the specific game's rules page for details.
Time-limit
If a time-limit is set and players step over it, a Force Play button will be shown (unless the auto forceplay option is set, in which case the effects will be immediate). When the button is used is ENTIRELY up to the players, and it must be considered a player's right to use it. However, if a player excuses himself for a few minutes because of real life duties, then fair players might want to allow the time-limit violation and show some maturity.
The button appears for all -players- (note, that this may mean the host doesn't even have the ability to force play, if he isn't playing), and I can only suggest that you use this possibility in a fair and grown-up fashion.
Cheating
Apart from leaving, or parting, returning, and sitting on another chair to see the cards, etc., it should be impossible to cheat. All hands are kept on the server side only; a player can only see the information he is supposed to see.
However, there still may be some exploitable bugs, so if you find a clever and imaginative way to trick the server, please report it to make the games more stable and bulletproof.
