Gothic Chess

Gothic Chess is one of the chess variants you can play on Dracis. wikipedia knows more about it. It is licensed by Ed Trice, the game's inventor, for online use here.

Java

In order to play Gothic Chess on Dracis, you currently need Java 1.5 or higher (download). The client is a webstart application, which will store some data on your harddisk in the $HOME/.dracis_client directory. It doesn't harm your system. (Tho the Java warning makes it sound like I'm possibly the worst terrorist ever.)

We hope to port the client to Flash soon, just like the four games that already have a Flash client. (check them out, it really makes Java seem awful)

Profile

You also need a profile on Dracis, which you can acquire here.

Start

Lastly, you just have to click on the "Chess" server link on the right to initiate the client download and start.

Once a table is created you can simply select Gothic Chess as the variant you want to play.
